Like us, he observes that current problems are highly complex, while the social structures (such as governments) designed to address them are at best complicated, and thus unable to respond in effective ways. He suggested solution is an online platform to engage the public in collaborative efforts to solve complex problems.
The designers of Complex City hope to: "1) crowdsourc[e] holistic and systemic solutions to complex sociotechnical problems; 2) grow resilient commons-based societies; and 3) address civic legitimacy to engage with institutional actors in a constructive two-way dialogue."
